Netflix’s “Altered Carbon: Resleeved” Spin-off Reveals New Trailer, Japanese Cast, March 19 Premiere
In case you missed it, Netflix’s original anime series Altered Carbon is getting a spin-off! Entitled Altered Carbon: Resleeved, the spin-off film has just released a new trailer in both English and Japanese audio. Check out the English version here!
The spin-off movie comes hot on the heels of Altered Carbon season 2, which was released just this February. It is unclear if Resleeved is a sequel or a prequel to the original series, but what is clear is that the spin-off movie is set to “explore new elements of the story mythology”.
Altered Carbon: Resleeved is directed by Jo Nakajima (Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV) together with Yoshiyuki Okada, who is making his directorial debut in the film. Character design is done by Yasuo Ohtagaki (Moonlight Mile, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt), one of the Japanese anime creators Netlfix announced a partnership with last February (along with CLAMP, Shin Kibayashi, and others). CG effects will be supervised by Ren Kikuchi, who also worked with Jo Nakajima in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. Music will be composed by MONACA. Famed Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex writer Dai Sato and TV writer and producer Tsukasa Kondo are credited as writers for the project.
The Japanese cast are:
· Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ken (Takeshi Kovacs)
· Rina Satou as Gina (Leilin Kawahara)
· Ayaka Asai as Holly Togram
· George Nakata as Ogai
· Kenji Yamauchi as Hideki Tanaseda
· Kanehira Yamamoto as Shinji
· Kōji Ishii as Genzō
Altered Carbon is a cyberpunk series created by Laeta Kalogridis and based on the 2002 novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan. Netflix describes the anime series as such:
“On the planet Latimer, Takeshi Kovacs must protect a tattooist while investigating the death of a yakuza boss alongside a no-nonsense CTAC.”
Famed Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex writer Dai Sato and TV writer and producer Tsukasa Kondo are credited as writers for the project.
