More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers is a popular Japanese manga series. A lot of fans from different parts of the world have been waiting for its release. This is created by Yūki Kanamaru who is best known for being an author & artist. Also, it has been serialized in the manga magazine called Young Ace of Kadokawa since 2018. This anime TV series adaptation will premiere in October of this year. There’s no official date yet but there are 8 volumes of manga available for all the fans out there to catch up with until then.

Students taking up this course should show that they possess the necessary skills and they are capable of living with a particular partner of the opposite sex. They are graded while being under video surveillance as they present themselves with a particular level of happiness and harmony as an individual. 

However, Jirō gets saddled with his classmate named Akari Watanabe for a class project, marriage training, where they will be practicing as married couples. As the story continues to develop, you will find that Jirō is the complete opposite of Akari. But both of them know that if they will do their best, they will be able to switch their partners and be with the respective crushes that they always long to have. 

So they reluctantly made a decision to work together and reach the top ten. Doing so will be the way that they will be given a chance to swap their partners if the other couple agrees. Hence, making their plan a complete success is the beginning of their search for true love and happiness.

Akari Watanabe is a gyaru and she becomes the partner of Jirō Yakuin when the school held a couple’s training activity. At the time, students are supposed to help themselves be exposed to the idea of how it is to live with a partner as they will have in the future when they get married. Akari has a little bit of a strong personality of being straightforward but the fact is that she doesn’t have much experience in a romantic relationship with anyone in the past. 

Seiichiro Yamashita as Jirō Yakuin

Jirō Yakuin is the main protagonist in the story. During the couple’s training activity in school, he wants to be partnered with Shiori Sakurazaka who is his childhood friend and whom he has a crush on. However, he was paired with another girl named Akari Watanabe instead. So his goal is to switch partners with his classmate and get paired with the girl she always wants. 

Saki Miyashita as Shiori Sakurazaka

Shiori Sakurazaka is a childhood friend of Jirō Yakuin. During the couple’s training activity, she was partnered with Minami Tenjin. Shiori obviously has special feelings for Jirō Yakuin but she is too shy to admit it and decided to keep it herself. 

Toshiki Masuda as Minami Tenjin

Minami Tenjin is the partner of Shiori Sakurazaka during the couple’s training activity at school. The interesting about it is that Akari has a crush on him, but she doesn’t know that Minami also likes her back.
