And here we have a really sweet news for everyone especially to fans of Ikoma x Mumei from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress! Last December 29, Kabaneri lead voice actors Tasuku Hatanaka (Ikoma) and Sayaka Senbongi (Mumei) announced that they have gotten married by filing their marriage registration together. While the two voice actors come from different voice agencies, the marriage announcement was made via Senbongi’s agency I’m Enterprise.
In the post shared by I’m Enterprise, Senbongi writes that while spending time with Hatanaka, she thought that “I can live a fun and productive life with this person [Hatanaka]”. She then thanks all of the people who supported her and her now-husband Hatanaka and asks for everyone’s continued support: “We are still young, so please continue supporting us in the future.” Senbongi turned 24 last November while Hatanaka turned 25 last August.
Before working together on Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Senbongi and Hatanaka worked on Attack on Titan as Nifa and Flegel Reeves, respectively. Both also have voice acting credits in Snow White with the Red Hair but as side characters only. Separately, Hatanaka is known for voicing Yuma Tsukumo in Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, Denki Kaminari in My Hero Academia, and Taiga Kogami in King of Prism, among others. Senbongi, on the other hand, has voiced characters such as Haru from BEASTARS, Mariella from Black Clover, and Trish Una from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is an original TV animé produced by Wit Studio for Fuji TV’s Noitamina anime block, which aired from April to June 2016. A movie entitled Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: Battle of Unato was released in Japanese theaters as well as in Netflix Japan on May 2019. The movie was released worldwide via Netflix on September last year.
