What We See so Far - "Isekai de Café o Kaiten Shimashita"

Synopsis

Kurokawa Lisa was an ordinary office worker, who had practiced lots of cooking while living alone. One day, she finds herself transported to a magical, spirit-filled realm by the will of the goddess, and there is no known way for her to go back. Not only that, she finds a little spirit with her and with her help, she ends up taken in by a wealthy couple. While they are kind and she finds little difficulty with her new life, there is one problem, the food is terrible!

Deciding to help with the household cooking staff prepare a traditional meal from her world as a repayment for their kindness, her meal ends up a hit with her hosts. From this, she finds her place in this new world as she makes it a goal to open a cafe and treat everyone to delicious food!

The Good

Simplicity is always something nice to enjoy in the isekai genre. Stories involving food making or such is a personal favorite of this writer. With this series, it has both of these aspects and as such, makes for something good to read during your free time. The first thing that popped out with the series is that it does well in developing both the story and characters. There is a good foundation for the introductory portion of the series basically.

The characters were well established and with the protagonist, she has the usual kind vibe but has a different feel to her in terms of personality. As for the male lead, he also has typical notes to him but the way he has been presented so far brings a cute quality to him.

The Bad

There isn’t much that stands out in terms of plot with the series. It’s a cute and simple work that has bursts of something to keep the plot going. Yet even then those bursts are something that is expected with the story. The development is good in showing how the main character is settling things with her place in this new realm. However, outside of soft moments and the bursts of action that is meant to give dynamics to the story, it’s rather plain as far as isekai stories go.

Conclusion

It’s a cute story for those who are into isekai stories involving food. The development is solid and the characters are not half bad but it doesn’t have all that big of an impact. It’s not a bad series, but rather simple with a good foundation to it. For those who are into cute stories involving food and fantasy without too much heaviness in the plot, this is a story to read.
