Today in the latest July 2018 issue of Tokuma Shoten’s Comic Ryu monthly magazine, an announcement is made of an anime adaptation for the comedy manga “Oshi ga Budokan Ittekuretara Shinu”/“If my favorite idol goes to Budokan, I will die.”
Details for the adaptation of Auri Hirao’s underground idol-themed series will be released at a later date. In addition to the announcement, a post was released by the manga author, it stated:
“The reason why I talked about only Nan in the index page was because I was not sure if there would be an announcement for the anime at the time. I am so happy. Thank you very much.”
As stated, the series was created by Auri Hirao. It was serialized in Tokuma Shoten’s seinen manga magazine Monthly Comic Ryū since the August 2015 issue and currently has four volumes out. It was on May 11 that the fourth volume of the series had its launch.
The story of the series takes focus on two things, one, is “ChamJam”, a seven-member chika-idol (underground idols, who don’t have a contract with major record companies or promoters) group located in Okayama Prefecture. The second is Eri/Eripiyo, a 20-year-old female fan of the group.
It was two years ago that Eri had first seen their street live. At the time she ended up falling in love with the group’s 17-year-old member Maina Ichii. Now she has dedicated everything she has into supporting Maina in her idol duties. When Maina eventually realizes Eri’s sincere feelings for her, she begins wishing to lessen the distance between the two. The problem though is that barrier between idols and fans is rather high.
On another note, Comic Ryu confirmed today that it will end its print publication as of its next August 2018 issue to be released on June 19. Comic Ryu, which is fully known as Monthly Comic Ryu, is a Japanese monthly seinen manga and anime magazine published by Tokuma Shoten. Following the end of the magazine, the current serialization works, including Oshi ga Budokan Ittekuretara Shinu, will move to a new site Comic Ryu Web (tentative name) from July.
